Our History

Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home

Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home was originally the Holmes Funeral Home, founded in 1935.

Harold Holmes initially opened the funeral home at 316 South Broadway in Riley. Harold and Georgia Holmes built their new home directly across the street at 303 South Broadway. Along with their children, they lived in and operated the funeral home at this location until 1957.

Ed and Mildred (Millie) Pfeifley purchased the business in 1957. Ed and Millie raised their three sons and operated the funeral home at the same location. In the 1970’s, an addition to the chapel was completed increasing the seating to comfortably accommodate 200 people.

In 1980, their son Phil Pfeifley purchased the funeral home and his commitment to the family business continued to evolve. In the 1990’s, Phil added a formal entry, restroom, and modernized front entrance and it became the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home. Phil’s loyalty to the community remains resolute, creating lifelong relationships with individuals and families.

Jarred and Jenny Anderes purchased the funeral home in 2013, now the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home. It is a privilege and honor for them to continue the tradition of the family-owned and operated funeral home. They recognize that a funeral should be as unique as the life lived and are ready to celebrate and honor your loved one’s memory.

Christie-Anderes Funeral Home

Terry-Christie Funeral Home traces its roots to 1986 when Roger and Barbara Terry opened the Terry Chapel and Funeral Home in Waterville. It was purported that the funeral home, built in 1874, was the first brick home in the Waterville Community. Roger restored the original building before opening and then added the show room and chapel over the next decade. They purchased Youngberg Perry Funeral Home in 1996. Rod and Melinda Christie arrived in the community in 1997. Ten years later they purchased the funeral home from Roger and Barbara Terry.

Jarred and Jenny Anderes purchased the Terry-Christie Funeral Home from Rod and Melinda Christie in January of 2022, now the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home. Jarred and Jenny, along with the Christie’s and Terry’s, are committed to continuing the established tradition of excellence in the community and will strive to provide personalized tributes for your loved ones.
